Google And Yahoo

To add your new blog to the Search Engine simply go to

Google addurl

You will be taken to the above page. Type-in the blog url that you want to add and as usual, enter the the green alphabets correctly. This is to ensure that it is not a piece of software trying to add url to the Google Search Engine.

There is also a comments box available on that page. I don't know what it's for and I doubt if any Google's member ever read the 'comments' box. Usually, I would add something nice like, "Have a great day", or "Happy blogging" or something like that just for fun ;-)

Some so called guru will discourage you from entering your blog url manually this way, as Google has suggested it will take up to six weeks, maybe more to get your blog indexed.

So far, I've never encountered any problem submitting my blog like this. For your information, this blog of mine is indexed in less than twenty-four hours in MSN and Google. If you find that your blog has not been indexed after twenty four hours, there is no harm to re-submit it.

What? You don't believe me? Ok, ok, here is what you have to do. Go and try to google my blog, this new blog and I'm sure Google can find it. Google can find this blog because it has already been indexed by the search engines.

That's the advantage of having a blog with a high I started blogging with My Journey To Recovery and I optimized it fully for search engine till I gained a well to do PageRank. I noticed I got a four when I was only blogging for nearly four months! Now, that's what I called power!

I got to tell you about feed. How and why RSS works is rather technical, but you shouldn't worry because you don't need to know the technical side of it. It short for RDF Site Summary or Rich Site Summary, RSS is an XML format for sharing of content among different WebSites.

For others to publish their contents, a WebSite creates an RSS document and register it with an RSS Publisher. Bloggers has a built in RSS Publisher and that mean your content can be seen by people who subscribe to RSS readers like MSN, BlogLines or Yahoo. And this is what gets your blog noticed and indexed by major search engines like Yahoo.

Best thing about Yahoo is that, Yahoo allows you to subscribe to your OWN blog RSS feed. This will mean you can get Yahoo's spiders looking immediately to your blog. All you got to do is to subscribe to your own blog and Yahoo will visit and index your blog for free!

First, you got to have a Yahoo account. After creating Yahoo account or you already have it, go to My Yahoo. To register your blog, first thing you got to do is click the "Add Content"

Add Content Yahoo

This will bring you to a page that allows you to add content in various ways. You will see a large, blue "Find Content" field. Next to the "Find" button, you will see a link called "Add RSS bu URL". Click on this link so that you will be able to add your blog's Site Feed URL.

Add RSS by URL

Achtung! Do not use your blog URL but use your SITE FEED URL. Your site feed URL will have atom.xml at the end. If you place the wrong URL, the system will not work. For example, for this blog it should be like this;

Once you have added your SITE FEED URL, click on the "Add" button.

Yahoo then does a quick search to see if there is really a blog with the said RSS URL. For this to work, you have got at least one post. The least you can do was to type in, "This is a test post" all over and published it (you can delete it later!) This is so that test post allows your blog to be "active" so that when Yahoo does this search they will find your blog.

After finding your post, Yahoo will show a page "Add To My Yahoo!" Click on the "Add To My Yahoo!" button, you will then see "This source has been added to My Yahoo!"

If you put in the wrong URL or have not created a test post, you will see a "We couldn't find the RSS file you asked for (name of your blog feed)!

Once you have your site feed URL accepted, click on the "My Yahoo! Home" link. Scroll down to the bottom, you will see your blog is listed.

Let's do a quick review. So far you have listed your blog on MSN, Google and Yahoo.
FYI, I've listed this blog to FeedBurner, has a Google Sitemap and Google Analytics for tracking visitors to my blog.

That's it for now. Anything you wanna know, just leave a comment or two, or you can email me.

I'm really enjoying the theme/design of your weblog. Do you ever run into any internet browser compatibility issues? A small number of my blog visitors have complained about my blog not operating correctly in Explorer but looks great in Chrome. Do you have any solutions to help fix this problem?
